Given what is happening in the world right now, athletes, professional and amateur, have had to adapt their training goals and races to maintain performance and fitness but with no scheduled races taking place because of social distancing, most cyclists are turning towards the virtual world to get their racing fix. If you're into your endurance challenges, Revolve24 have shared the news that you can now register your interest for the virtual Race Across America Taking place across 12 days, you can spin the pedals till your legs fall off via the FulGaz app...
Whilst we are not holding our event at Brands Hatch this year, we wanted to let you know about an exciting way you can still be involved in an exciting new Endurance Cycling event that you can join from your living room druing these difficult times. Revolve24 is the only qualifier for Race Across America (RAAM) in the UK and a number of you have achieved the RAAM solo qualifying distance. Sadly, for the first time in its history, RAAM has been cancelled due to Covid19.
You can be part of something massive and positive without leaving your home. From 16-28 June we are helping stage the very first Virtual RAAM (VRAAM), powered by FulGaz, an app that looks and feels as close to riding outdoors as possible. This means that riders all over the world can watch or enter. You can register your interest HERE.
All ride distances will be stunning road segments, predominantly in North America. They will not be the actual RAAM course. There will be three categories, for solo riders:
1. VRAAM - 3,000 miles (4,828kms)
2. VRAW (Race Across the West) - 925 miles (1,488kms)
3. Gran Fondo - Details TBA
VRAAM and VRAW will be over 12 days. Each day will have an allotted number of segments allowing riders to accumulate as many miles as possible per day. These will then make up a progress/leader board. The maximum time that a rider can be on the bike is 20 hours per day. No teams unfortunately, this year. Over the coming weeks we will be providing further information, so be sure to register your interest HERE.
