As the name suggests, Ribble’s Gran Fondo has been designed to offer Ribble’s most comfortable ride for longer distance event riding. With this in mind, the Gran Fondo has been completely redesigned for improved comfort and fit.
The geometry for 2017 has been overhauled to help achieve the perfect on bike fit. The new Gran Fondo benefits from a slightly longer headtube design for a less aggressive position on the bike. In addition, the headtube angle has been relaxed in conjunction with increasing the wheel base of the bike – changes that provide a more stable ride. Combined, these changes ideally suit those looking for an all-round more relaxed ride experience and ideally suited to long distance sportive, or indeed, Gran Fondo riding.
While comfort has been addressed through these geometry changes, Ribble have also addressed compliance as a key consideration for their 2017 Gran Fondo. S-Shaped seatstays and a new 27.2mm seatpost help to disperse road vibration while improved tyre clearance allows for larger tyres to be specced as standard with this model.
The Ribble Gran Fondo hasn’t just been designed around comfort and stability. The new frame is up to date with internal cable routing and is compatible with electronic groupsets including Shimano Di2 and Campagnolo EPS. When you do need to put the power down, and oversize downtube and chainstays allow for efficient power delivery from the pedals.
James Dove, Product and Brand Director for Ribble says: “Our Gran Fondo is the perfect bike for those who are looking for a relaxed comfortable ride. The changes we’ve made for 2017 to the geometry in particular is something we wanted to do to help underpin what this bike has been designed to do. Its upright geometry and stable handling makes it a bike that’s a pleasure to ride whether on your biggest target rides of the year, or out with friends at the weekends.”
